LAS VEGAS - Motional said Monday that fully assembled IONIQ 5 robotaxis are arriving at its Las Vegas Technical Center straight from the Hyundai Motor Group Innovation Center Singapore, needing little more than Motional branding before autonomous ops prep.
In a Sept. 15 post on X, the Hyundai Motor Group majority-owned robotaxi company wrote that vehicles leave HMGICS "fully assembled from the production line," and that "all the IONIQ 5 robotaxis need is Motional decals." Before shipment, Motional said, HMGICS employees run diagnostics, calibration, and validation so the cabs meet specifications for autonomous operation.

The pipeline matches Motional and Hyundai's long-stated manufacturing plan: IONIQ 5 robotaxis are built at HMGICS, with Motional staff historically supporting diagnostics, software, calibration, and validation at Singapore's Autonomous Vehicle Integration Center before U.S. deployment. Motional has said commercial production of the robotaxi was designed to feed its U.S. ride-hail services.
Las Vegas is already the public stage for that fleet. Motional and Uber launched matching IONIQ 5 robotaxis to Uber riders in March 2026 across Strip and downtown pickup zones, initially with a vehicle operator behind the wheel and a target of fully driverless service later in the year, according to company announcements. Motional's Las Vegas Technical Center supports testing, operations, and technology work for the robotaxi program.

The latest post does not announce a new city, a new Uber zone, or a confirmed start date for empty-car rides. It is a production and logistics update: robotaxis leaving Singapore's advanced plant as finished units, then landing in Nevada for Motional's local commissioning path. That framing matters in a Vegas market where Waymo, Zoox, and Tesla permits are also crowding the same streets, and where Uber has been stacking multiple AV partners onto one app.
Motional's IONIQ 5 robotaxi is an SAE Level 4-capable vehicle Motional and Hyundai have described as among the first of its kind certified under U.S. Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards. The company has previously said the vehicle was engineered for ride-hail rather than retrofitted from a consumer hatchback, which is the point of Monday's "no retrofitting required" line.
For now, the public claim is simple and visual: Singapore builds them whole, Las Vegas receives them ready for Motional's stack and stickers, and the fleet pipeline is running.
